
Eurocash Group (Delikatesy Centrum, Lewiatan, Duży Ben, Eurocash Partner Networks: ABC, Groszek and Euro Sklep and Gama — Retail Partner System), Chorten Group and Netto Polska intend to create a joint venture company to join European Marketing Distribution (EMD), the leading European purchasing group. Final accession may take place after obtaining the prior consent of the competition authority. Thanks to the EMD cooperation, the new members will be able to increase their purchasing capacity at European level, generating significant savings in the supply chain that they intend to use to strengthen the offer for the end customers of their networks.
The presence of a new participant in EMD, which will be created by the Eurocash Group, the Chorten Group and Netto Polska, should translate into improved purchasing conditions for retailers cooperating within the Eurocash and Chorten Group networks and customers of Netto Polska stores. Together, they bring together around 20,000 stores, generating an annual turnover of more than 12 billion euros, which makes them the second largest player on the Polish retail market.
After obtaining the approval of the President of UOKiK to create a joint venture company, the company will join EMD, which will allow participants to benefit from membership probably next year.
